Curious about what happens to a Lion’s Den winner after the event? Read on to see fiid’s journey from 2019 to now and how they achieved their three-year goals!
Bradley is proud to host Lion’s Den, a pitch event that provides food and beverage start-ups in Ireland with a platform to gain investment, expand their network, and compete for the Lion’s Den prize. In 2019 the winner of the competition, Shane Ryan, impressed the judges with his authentic healthy, plant-based meal product, fiid, and the sophistication of the brand overall.
As the Lion’s Den 2019 champion, Shane received a free stand at the International Food and Drink Event, (IFE) in London, €1,500 for expenses, national PR coverage, and exposure to Europe’s largest stockists. After his win, we caught up with him. He shared his passion for the impact that fiid is having and his commitment to changing the game.
A word from the winner in 2019:
“I am madly in love with the impact we’re having with fiid so far and have even more of a fire in us now to not stop until we change the game completely. It means a lot to us to have come and competed against some incredible brands that we watched quite closely. Winning Lion’s Den is an acknowledgment of the work we have put in and what we know we can be.”
Shane has always been confident that success is about touching as many people as possible with a brand that delivers real value and has an impact beyond serving food to people and making money. He believes entrepreneurs and business owners have a responsibility to make a difference. That they have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world. And that he has!
We thought it only fitting to bring Shane back to the Lion’s Den stage, but as a judge. He shared with us his journey so far and some insight for entrepreneurs in the Irish food space.
Since the competition, fiid has developed and progressed year on year, surpassing their predictions and achieving B-Corp status. They are making a difference with every pack they produce, meeting the highest standards for sustainability, social responsibility, and transparency.
You can find fiid online at eatfiid.com . Or, in major supermarkets and some local shops across Ireland, the UK, and even in Hong Kong. Bradley is proud to have been a part of fiid’s story and to watch their continued success. May it continue!
